Along with her husband James Yap, Alice graduated from the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik (Baden) Heidelberg in Germany, majoring in Piano and Chamber Music as well as Music Pedagogy for the Master of Music Degree (1992-1996). Besides under the tutelage of Prof. Eugen Polus & Prof. Margret Bauer, she also studied Piano under Prof. Gabi Krietemeyer & Prof. Almut Schlaak-Riecke.

Since their return to Singapore in August 1996, Alice & James have been very active in promoting music activities for the young, such as the 22 Creative Music Workshops for Young Pianists held at NAFA (from 1996 to 1998) and at Practice Performing Arts School (2000). Together, they have been co-conducting other music workshops for children and music teachers alike in West Malaysia, from Johor Bahru to Alor Star. They have formed the MusiKinder Ensemble to perform at public venues such as the Esplanade, Alliance Française, Young Musicians’ Society (YMS), and during Malaysia concert tours in Kuala Lumpur & Penang. In 2005, they established MusiKinder ArtSkool in Singapore and remain as the Academic & Music Directors respectively. They were part of the jury panels of the various music festivals & events held in Singapore & West Malaysia. In 2017, they formed the eMusiKinder Academy to help foster enhanced & accelerated global online study of both Music & Art for more effective & complete whole-brain learning experience.

Besides training & mentoring music teachers regularly within & without MusiKinder ArtSkool, Alice has tremendous experience in Preschool Music Education and teaching the young. She was appointed as the Chief Curricular Advisor to set up creative junior group courses for both Methodist School of Music (1997-99) & Creative-O Preschoolers’ Bay (2000-01) and has been a well-sought-after Adjunct Lecturer in KLC School of Education (2003-8), Seed Institute and SIM University (since 2012) where for the last 2 institutions, she wrote the full music curriculum sets along with their modular unit guides for their lecturers. She also gave lectures on Piano Pedagogy – Repertoire (2001), Music Classroom Teaching (2014) & Game-changing Music Pedagogical Approach – Music eLearning (2017) at NAFA.

Furthermore, Alice is a prolific writer & the author of 13 Albums of Piano Study – Scales & Arpeggios (Grade 1-8) & Violin Study – Scales & Arpeggios (Grade 1-5) along with their ebook versions. Whilst busy revising the current edition of her 4-book Piano Gym for Smart Fingers series (Grade 1-8) & completing writing of the 8-album Finger Gym Books for the KeySteps program series (age 4-6) & the 4-album Gym Books for the ToddlerSteps program series (age 2-3), she remains active as a creative recording artiste & trainer on the eMusiKinder Academy eLearn portal for its regular online learning & training programs, and has been very active in presentations during her many book launch/workshop events since August 2018 – Johor Bahru, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Sungai Petani, Ipoh & Penang as well as those in Singapore with Yamaha Music, Synwin Music, Asia Music and Steinway & Sons.
